Rocky Knoll Farm
Halimiocistus - Winton Rockrose
Winton Rockrose is an impressive low and spreading evergreen shrub that perks up the look of any garden or landscape. The special white blossoms have a yellow center and a very dark crimson botch at the base to each petal. Blooming usually starts in late spring and goes into summer. This is a very popular choice for open garden concepts as this plant does best in full sun. It is the winner of the Award of Garden Merit of the Royal Horticultural Society.
Winton Rockrose should be planted in well-draining soil, especially for helping young plants first take root. It is easy to grow and versatile. Bees and butterflies love it, and deer generally avoid it. We recommend light pruning early spring after the last frost to help stimulate healthy new growth. These beautiful shrubs grow to about 2' tall x 3' wide, and are hardy to 0°F when protected from windchill.
