Rocky Knoll Farm
White Ginger
$40
White Ginger is a special hybrid rhododendron from Jim Barlup featuring white blooms and broad somewhat ovate-shaped green foliage. What makes this plant unique is that it is one of only two verified fertile pentaploid rhododendrons; meaning that it has five sets of chromosomes. The extra chromosomes make this a desirable cultivar for both collection and hybridization. It is hard to find but we are proud to offer it at Rocky Knoll Farm (when we can keep it in stock).
White Ginger has a relatively even growth habit that reaches around 5' tall x 5' wide at maturity. You will want to plant it in full sun to partial shade and well-draining soil. Hardy to 10°F when protected from windchill. We recommend some afternoon shade in hotter climates.
