Spiraea x bumalda 'Dolchica'

$26

The purple to pink blooms of Spiraea Dolchica are certainly lovely, but we think the unique foliage of this vibrant shrub is incredible. Pointy but soft, the shape of the leaves is incredible. The foliage colors emerge as red, purple and bronze, it changes to green throughout summer, and then back into reddish-bronze in the fall. The blooms last all summer and into fall in some growing conditions, and they are great for floral arrangements. This is a great plant that continues to delight as it changes continually. Butterflies and bees both love this shrub.

Spiraea Dolchica prefers well-draining soil and full sun. It has a full, mounding growth habit, and it can reach 3' tall x 4' wide. Easy to grow and low maintenance, it is great for borders, mass planting and slopes. Hardy to -20°F when protected from windchill.
