Sapphire Blue Oat Grass - Helictotrichon sempervirens

Sapphire Blue Oat Grass grows in an attractive mounded clump form, and displays showy blue-grey-green blades. In summer, mature plants will display taller golden feathery plumes, which makes this grass a great choice for beauty across the seasons. We recommend pruning this plant back after the last winter freeze to stimulate full, bright new spring growth. This plant is a winner of the prestigious Award of Garden Merit of the Royal Horticultural Society. 

This ornamental grass requires well-draining soil, and will generally show more blue color in dryer conditions. This plant likes full sun, but can tolerate a small amount of shade. Sapphire Blue Oat Grass is very versatile and easy to grow. Deer resistant, evergreen in warmer climates, and hardy to -30°F when protected from windchill. Excellent for slopes, seaside and container growing, mass planting and great as garden accents.
