This rare version of the R. cinnabarinum species has light lavender flowers and deciduous foliage. Blooms typically start showing in late April, depending on growing conditions. Rhododendron cinnabarinum ssp. tamaense has a nice upright growth habit that reaches around 3' tall x 3' wide a maturity. It is hardy to 5°F when protected from windchill.
