R. scabrifolium var. spiciferum

Small bright to light pink narrowly funnel-shaped pink blooms sit atop dark green narrowly elliptic foliage. New growth can show small hairs, which add a unique characteristic. This species rhododendron grows up to 3' tall and is good for small growing places such as a rock garden, planter or can be used for accent. You can see one in our photos is quite happy growing in an old stump.

We recommend prompt deadheading after blooms are spent and seasonal pruning to promote a fuller growth habit. Plant in full sun to partial shade and anticipate blooms March-April, depending where planted. Cold hard to 10°F when protected from windchill.
