R. occidentale 'Select' Western Azalea

$36

A truly incredible R. occidentale seedling cultivar, we think this deciduous azalea is exceptional! It is fantastically fragrant, and its midseason blooms are outstanding. Reddish-pink and white flowers are adorned with a yellow-gold accent on the upper dorsal. The glossy, rich green foliage make for an excellent canvas to show off the wonderful blossoms, which show as early as April and into June, depending on growing conditions. Our bloom photos were taken in April and May.

R. occidentale 'Select' was selected from seedlings as a stronger plant with more attractive foliage. It originates in the Oregon and Northern California coastal range, and it is known to grow to over 6' tall at maturity. It is hardy to -5°F when protected from windchill, and you will want to plant in full sun to partial shade.
