Also called Southern Flame Azalea, this deciduous azalea has showy yellow flowers with hints of orange. Its blossoms are nicely fragrant and have long graceful stamens that draw the eye. Blooms generally appear April through June, depending on growing conditions (our blooms photos were taken in April). Butterflies and hummingbirds really like them. Its rich green foliage turns orange and yellow in fall, extending its character contribution to gardens and landscapes. 

These plants have great character and an upright growth habit that reaches up to 6' tall x 5' wide at maturity. It does well in hot climates but you will want to make sure it has well-draining soil. R. austrinum is hardy to -10°F when protected from windchill.
