Prairie Munchkin is a moderate-sized grass that grows in an attractive compact form. Green foliage gives way to red and crimson blades that bring plenty of character to this desirable schizachyrium grass. In summer and fall, creamy blonde showy bloom spikes shoot upward to around 3' tall.

This grass does best in full sun and well-draining soil. It can spread to about 2' wide when mature. Easy to grow and very versatile, Prairie Munchkin is deer resistant and drought tolerant once established. Also good for helping prevent erosion. It is an excellent choice for accents, borders, urban growing, and slopes. Hardy to -30°F when protected from windchill.
