Prairie Blues (Schizachyrium scoparium)

Also known as Little Bluestem, this attractive ornamental grass offers an array of color changes across seasons. From blue, grey, green and various hues of red, Prairie Blues is an excellent choice for adding character to gardens and landscapes. Showy white seed heads provide additional texture and contrast in late summer. 

Prairie Blues is native to the United States, low maintenance, and easy to grow. Birds and butterflies really like this grass, yet it is deer resistant. It has a great upright growth habit and grows to around 36" tall x 15" wide. This grass prefers full sun and is hardy to -30°F when protected from windchill. We recommend cutting back to around 3" above ground in spring (after the last frost) to stimulate new seasonal growth.
