Portuguese laurel has dark glossy green leaves that grow into a dense rounded form and can be pruned to desired shape. New stems are a great red color and later turn to green. This fast-growing evergreen shrub is easy to grow and can eventually reach around 20' in height and 15' wide.

Small, white flower clusters that bloom in summer are are fragrant and turn to dark red to purple berries. This plant is winner of the prestigious Award of Garden Merit of the Royal Horticultural Society, as well as the Gold Medal Award of The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society. Hardy to -5°F when protected from windchill. Plant 2'-3' apart for hedging.
