Rocky Knoll Farm
PJM Compacta
This excellent rhododendron has bright lavender-pink flowers with trusses that sit atop great shapely foliage. When this hybrid fully blooms it is incredible, as it covers itself with blossoms early in the season and brings intense color to the garden.
We love the contrast of its great new foliage color, which you can see from some of our photos. Hardy to an incredible -25°F when protected from windchill, and can grow to 4' tall at maturity. Water weekly as needed and plant in full to filtered sun.
PJM rhododendrons are the offspring of R. caloninianum, which has been considered to be the most drought tolerant rhododendron. Thus, PJM plants follow suit and are more drought tolerant than most rhododendrons. If you're looking for a beautiful option that is sun, heat, and drought tolerant once established, PJM is for you.
