Penstemon Electric Blue

The aptly named Electric Blue penstemon shows off its intense, colorful tubular flowers as early as May and well into the summer, depending on where it is planted. Electric Blue blooms the longest of all the penstemons and is usually one of the earliest bloomers as well. This great plant is loved by hummingbirds, butterflies and bees! It prefers well-drained soils but is otherwise easy to grow. Generally reaching about 18" tall and while versatile, it is an especially great choice for ground cover it likes to grow out and down. That means it doesn't look as good when you receive it in a pot but it will really look great once it takes root in the ground. However, this Sun and heat tolerant, this plant is hardy to around -5°F when protected from wind chill.
