Martian King

This is a hard to find rhododendron and we usually only have a few available at a time. It was hybridized in Corvallis, Oregon, just down the road from us. We love the incredibly robust and large trusses of rich red blossoms. The leaves of this great plant provide a very nice skirting for the trusses. 

Along with Francesca, Martian King is one of our favorite deep red rhododendrons. New foliage has lovely yellow stems that converge with the rich green of the leaves. We love recommending plants like this that bring various characters of color to the garden beyond just the bloom season.

A midseason bloomer, we recommend partial shade and limited full sun. Martian King grows to 6' tall or more at maturity. Hardy to 0°F when protected from windchill.
