Rocky Knoll Farm

Liatris spicata 'Kobold'

$26

Also known as Blazing Star or Gayfeather, this special perennial has unique upright fluffy bloom spikes that stand out in any garden or landscape. These plants bring incredible texture and character with bloom and foliage combination. Blooms generally show throughout early and midsummer, depending on growing conditions. It's foliage adds a bronze color in fall as an extended showy feature.

Kobold has a great clumping growth habit, and they often reach about 36" tall x 18" wide. It is loved by hummingbirds, butterflies and bees, and it also provides a good food source for birds in winter. It has a variety of garden applications and is excellent for floral and dried arrangements. We recommend cutting back bloom wands once spent.

This plant is easy to grow, deer resistant, heat and drought tolerant once established, and known to be disease-free. It likes full sun but can handle some shade. Be sure to plant these beauties in well-draining soil to get them rooted. Hardy to -30°F when protected from windchill.
