Hebe ochracea 'James Stirling' (Whipcord Hebe)

$26

This unique hebe stands out in any landscape with its bright ochre to green colored flat needle-like foliage, and especially in rock gardens. Lower stems turn an espresso brown as this slow-growing evergreen shrub adds new foliage. When it blooms in summer it has small white flowers at the tips of the branches, but this plant is one to select for its foliage.

James Stirling likes lots of sun and requires well-draining soil and temperate climate. Hardy to 10°F and should be protected from windchill by placing near a hedgerow, fence or building. It can grow to about 2' tall and 1.5' wide, and can be pruned to topiary.
