Golden Lights deciduous azalea that is beautiful, fragrant, and extra cold hardy. Hybridized to withstand extra cold temperatures by the University of Minnesota Landscape Arboretum as part of its Northern Lights Hybrid Series, this plant is hardy down to -40°F when protected from windchill. Deep orange buds with hues of red open to unique salmon-orange blossoms with a bright yellow blotch.
This award-winning azalea can bloom as early as April (our bloom photos were taken in early May) and into June, and it grows up to 6 feet tall at maturity. It is quite popular with hummingbirds, butterflies and bees. It likes full sun to partial shade. You will want to plant these azaleas in well-draining soil.
