Rocky Knoll Farm
Escallonia rubra shows its small tubular blooms of pink and red throughout the summer and sometimes into fall, depending on growing conditions. This shrub is tolerant of salt spray, making it a good coastal grower. We recommend a mild growing climate as it does not generally prefer hot/humid conditions, and is cold hardy to about 10°F when protected from windchill. In proper care and conditions, this Escallonia can reach up to 10' tall x 15' wide, making it a great choice for a large hedge. It's large rounded growth habit make for an attractive privacy plant. Place in full sun to partial shade, and be sure to use well-draining soil.
