Erica Velvet Knight Heath
Also known as Bell Heather, Velvet Knight has unique dark purple bell-shaped blossoms that come to life against the plants deep evergreen foliage. Butterflies and hummingbirds are both attracted to these plants. Blooms generally show late spring and all the way into fall, depending on growing conditions.
This excellent low-growing shrub is a recipient of the prestigious Award of Garden Merit of the Royal Horticulture Society for its exceptional qualities. People go crazy for this wonderfully versatile plant, which is great for container growing, borders, slopes, coastal gardens, ground cover, beds and mass planting.
This heath is easy to grow, deer resistant, and drought tolerant once established. However, you will want plant it in well-draining soil and give it full sun if possible. They can grow up to 12" tall and spread to 2' wide. Hardy to -10°F when protected from windchill.
