Rocky Knoll Farm
Deschampsia cespitosa ‘Goldtau’ (Gold Dew)
The tufted evergreen foliage of Goldtau makes this unique fountain-shaped grass a desirable addition for borders, meadows, and various landscapes. Also known as Tufted Hair Grass, its upright green foliage and showy flower spikes creates a spectacle across seasons. Silver to reddish-purple summer bloom heads give way to yellow and bronze hues in winter, as they turn to bird-attracting seed heads. This grass makes an excellent addition to cut floral arrangements!
This grass reaches about 2' tall x 2' wide, and we recommend spacing 18"-24" apart. Place in full sun to partial shade and be sure to use well-draining soil, especially to help young plants take root. You can cut this plant back after the last frost in early spring to stimulate a burst of new growth. Hardy to -25°F when protected from windchill.
Our 1 gallon grasses are rooted, fertilized and ready to burst with new growth. Some grasses grow very tall and change in size rapidly across seasons. If you order a grass that is very tall at the time, we will trim it as needed for shipping.
