Ophiopogon planiscapus 'Nigrescens' (Black Mondo)

Black Mondo grass is an exceptional plant that provides excellent color and texture to gardens and landscapes. This unique ornamental grass features deep, dark purple to black foliage that will add a dramatic touch to any setting. It has an attractive compact, tufted growth habit that is excellent for borders, edging, rock gardens, ground cover, coastal growing, accents, and containers. Summer blooms of white to lavender rise above the foliage in summer. They transition to dark berries in fall, which are great for birds. Black Mondo grass is an easy-to-grow plant that grows to around 8" tall x 12" wide. You will want to make sure to place these plants in well-draining soil. They do best with partial shade, and are hardy to -10°F when protected from windchill.
