Salvia officinalis 'Purpurascens' Purple Sage

$26

This fantastic compact perennial is prized for its splendid foliage of purple and green hues. Purple Sage is delightfully aromatic, great for culinary usage, and provides fabulously attractive character to a garden or indoor arrangements. Very versatile and easy to grow, it can be used for beds, patios, containers, borders, urban growing and various garden themes. It is no surprise that Salvia officinalis 'Purpurascens' is a winner of the Award of Garden Merit of the Royal Horticultural Society.

Butterflies and bees love this plant, yet it is both deer and disease resistant. Salvia officinalis is also drought tolerant once established. Full sun is best, but these beauties can tolerate a little shade. You will want to plant in well-draining soil, especially to get established. They can grow to about 2' tall x 2' wide, and we suggest trimming in spring after the last frost, which can help stimulate and promote a better growth habit. Hardy to -10°F when protected from windchill.
