Rocky Knoll Farm

Gaillardia x grandiflora 'Mesa Red'

$26

Also known as Blanket Flower, the deep red flowers with yellow hued centers of this perennial plant resemble a daisy-like form. Blooming generally starts around May and continues prolifically through summer, depending on growing conditions. Butterflies and bees love this plant! Excellent for floral arrangements, these herbaceous perennials are great for borders, beds, rock gardens, coastal and container growing.

Mesa Red perennials are easy to grow, drought and tolerant once established, and also disease, infestation, deer, and rabbit resistant. You will want to plant these beauties in well-draining soil. They have an attractive compact growth habit and often reach up to 18" tall x 24" wide.

Cutting spent flowers can encourage new blooms. Full sun is best for these plants but they can handle some shade. Hardy to -20°F when protected from windchill. Pruning to a few inches tall at the end of winter (after the last frost) can stimulate healthy new spring growth.
