Kaga-Nishiki is a striking variegated grass that is a wonderful selection for riparian zones, shady areas, rock gardens and mass planting where there is moist and well-draining soil. Shade tolerant and deer resistant, this Carex grass can grow to just over 12" tall x 20" wide neat clumps. We recommend cutting back top growth in late winter after the last frost to promote a healthy spring growth habit. Hardy to -15°F when protected from windchill, and blooms are insignificant as this plant is prized for its incredibly foliage. 

Our 1 gallon grasses are rooted, fertilized and ready to burst with new growth. Some grasses grow very tall and change in size rapidly across seasons. If you order a grass that is very tall at the time, we will trim it as needed for shipping.
