Arctostaphylos uva-ursi 'Wood's Compact' Kinnikinnick

$29

Wood's Compact is an excellent evergreen Bearberry manzanita shrub from Ed Wood. Unlike some other Acrtostaphylos, Wood's Compact is a great choice for landscaping as it tolerates a wide variety of gardening conditions. It's attractive glossy green foliage and reddish stems are complimented petite pink flowers in late winter that turn into showy red berries.

Wood's Compact is easy to grow and has a low-growing growth habit that reaches around 1' tall and over 3' wide at maturity. It makes for a splendid ground cover, and it is also good for slopes, rock gardens, and mass planting as long as it has well-draining soil. This plant grows well in full sun (especially in coastal locations) to partial shade. It is deer resistant and attractive to birds, hummingbirds, butterflies, and bees. Hardy to 0°F when protected from windchill.
